CONCEPT
Stay Like a Local in Rural Japan
At the foot of the Northern Alps, surrounded by forests, spring water, and farmland, Azumino offers a quieter side of Japan.
Azumino Hotaka Another House is a private home designed for travelers who want to experience everyday Japanese life rather than a tourist version of it.
There are no scheduled activities and no elaborate entertainment.
Instead, you will find natural materials, a private hot spring, and the gentle rhythm of life in rural Japan.
This is a place to slow down and simply enjoy being here.
ROOMS
Authentic Japanese Living
Inspired by the idea of “What if I lived here?”, the house combines traditional Japanese living with modern comfort.
Natural materials, local craftsmanship, and thoughtful design create a space where time seems to move a little more slowly.
Living Room
Large windows frame the surrounding forest and garden, bringing nature into everyday life.
The room features handcrafted furniture from Maruni, one of Japan’s most respected furniture makers, together with an Italian pellet stove that provides gentle warmth during the colder months.
Enjoy a book, a conversation, or simply watch the changing light through the trees.
Bedroom
The bedroom features two semi-double Simmons Beautyrest Luxe beds, among the finest mattresses available in Japan.
Premium down bedding and Kyoto-made washed cotton linens create a comfortable sleeping environment throughout the year.
After a day exploring the mountains and countryside, this is a place for deep rest.
Tatami Room
Tatami flooring is one of the most distinctive elements of traditional Japanese homes.
The room can be used as a quiet sitting room during the day and transformed into a sleeping room at night with comfortable futon bedding.
For many international guests, this becomes one of the most memorable parts of their stay.
Washroom
The washroom combines natural wood finishes with practical modern amenities.
A washer-dryer, towel warmer, and carefully selected toiletries make both short and extended stays comfortable.
The warm texture of wood creates a calm atmosphere to begin and end each day.
Bathroom
One of the highlights of the house is the private onsen bath.
The bathtub is crafted from Kiso Hinoki cypress, one of Japan’s most prized woods. The natural aroma of the wood becomes part of the bathing experience.
Fresh hot spring water flows directly from the Nakabusa Valley in the Northern Alps. No circulation. No reheating. Just natural hot spring water and complete privacy.
For guests unfamiliar with Japanese public baths, this offers an easy and authentic introduction to onsen culture.
Toilet
The toilet is equipped with a modern Japanese washlet system, including a heated seat and bidet functions.
Clean, comfortable, and commonly found in Japanese homes, it is another small part of everyday life in Japan that many international visitors enjoy experiencing.
Kitchen
The kitchen is fully equipped for preparing simple meals using local ingredients.
Facilities include an induction cooktop, microwave, rice cooker, toaster, electric kettle, refrigerator, cookware, tableware, and basic seasonings.
Visit local markets, bring home fresh ingredients, and enjoy cooking at your own pace.
Specialty coffee from Yatsugatake and local herbal tea from Azumino are also provided.
Garden
The 450㎡ property is surrounded by local trees, plants, and seasonal flowers.
A small outdoor living area invites you to spend time outside and experience the changing seasons of Azumino.
In spring, fresh greenery fills the landscape.
In autumn, the colors of the forest begin to change.
Sometimes the most memorable moments are the quietest ones.
